TREATMENTS WE OFFER
Speech and Language therapy at TherapyWorks is provided in collaboration with other therapies to help the child maximize their potential. Speech & Language therapy supports expressive, receptive, play, and cognitive communication needs.
Children who are not communicating verbally may benefit from an alternative mode of communication. Alternative communication systems can assist children with complex communication needs in communicating their wants/needs and build their receptive and expressive skills. A successful alternative communication system can support a child’s ability to make friends, participate in group settings, and develop literacy skills.
Some of the tools used by speech and language therapists at TherapyWorks include:
- Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
- Voice Output Devices
- Use of various Tablet communication applications

WHAT TO EXPECT
When you bring your child in for their first speech and language therapy appointment, we will take a thorough case history, including medical status, education, socioeconomic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds, and information.
Our speech pathologists and occupational therapists will also conduct a review of auditory, visual, motor, and cognitive status of your child and look at standardized and/or non-standardized measures of specific aspects of speech, spoken, and non-spoken language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function.
We will work to identify an effective treatment plan and provide follow-up services to monitor communication and swallowing status and ensure appropriate intervention and support for individuals with identified speech, language, cognitive-communication, and/or swallowing disorders.
